Welcome to the 2018 Titans Novice season!!
First off, I would like to introduce myself for those that don't know me. My name is Sean Mitchell and I am the Titans Novice Director, this will be my 5th year as the Novice Director.
I have also been coaching for the last 8 years, and I also played lacrosse for 4 years.
As the season is fast approaching and almost on us, I just want to go over a few things:
As of January 15, 2018, registration is open. Fees are due by March 10, 2018. If you have not paid your fees by that date, unfortunately there will be a $50.00 late fee charged and added to the original fee amount owed before your child can go on the floor.
The Sherwood Park Titans will be hosting a Winter drop in again this year at Millennium Place for minor lacrosse aged players and those wishing to try our great sport. Cost is $5.00 per player per session.
If your child is interested in playing goalie position please contact me. We can arrange to have goalie equipment at the drop in sessions for those wanting to try it.
Drop in lacrosse sessions start January 11, 2018. Till March 15, 2018.
Novice sessions are Thursdays 4:30 - 5:30 pm (Macmillan Team Field - Millennium Place)
Equipment Required: helmets, gloves, shorts, sticks and runners. Knee pads are also recommended.
I would like to ask all of you to quickly double check the contact info you have supplied on your child’s registration. Please double check e-mail addresses and phone numbers.
Reason I am asking is because some e-mails will bounce back to me, and once the teams are picked, I will need to give the coaches the contact info and I don't want to give out info that is not correct.
So, if you can please double check when you have a chance, I would really appreciate it.
Just so everyone knows, we as directors are NOT allowed to take requests. However, I know how hard it is to get our kids to their events, so I will and do look at all requests that come in.
But, please be aware that I will do my best to accommodate any requests that do come in, but I will NOT make any promises!!!
Again, this is a "just so everyone knows", we plan on having atleast 4 teams in Novice. All 4 teams will be picked to be as even as possible!!!
At the Novice level, we must have equally matched teams. In my opinion, if there is a 2-3 goal difference, the teams are fairly even. Once the evaluations are done and the teams are picked, I will arrange for some floor time to play parity games. The goal will be to play each team once to see how they all match up against each other. As long as they are all even as possible, they will stay the way they were picked. However, if there are 1-2 teams overpowering the other teams. KIDS WILL BE MOVED!!!
For this year, the evaluations will be held at Millennium Place with exact dates and times to be announced.
For the evaluations, the kids MUST have full equipment, NO EXCEPTIONS!!! Full equipment includes mouth guards and knee pads, again NO EXCEPTIONS!!!
If you have not paid your fees at this time, these must be paid in full before your child can go on the floor. We cannot allow your child on the floor until the fees are paid because of insurance reasons.
To get your fees paid, please contact our registrar (contact info is on the website under "Executivesâ€) and make arrangements to either mail it in or drop it off. OR, you can bring your payment to the evaluations and I can collect it then before your child goes on the floor.
Well, that's pretty much it for now, again please keep checking back here for any new updates and/or information.
